Ram Raid Repairs – HN Fyshwick

Background

Harvey Norman owns and manages a large retail complex in Fyshwick, a light industrial suburb, south-east of Canberra, ACT. In July 2019, two men used a vehicle to conduct a ram raid on the Home Appliances retail department of the Harvey Norman complex and as a result the building had sustained significant damage and property had been stolen.

Ozy Services was briefed by Harvey Norman Property to immediately get to site and secure the store from further potential disruption. Then to act as swiftly as possible, have tradesmen remove the damaged materials and then quickly rebuild and replace the retaining wall, dry wall, glazing and ceiling panels with new to match the existing.

Further consideration was given to security and Ozy Services was briefed to supply and install stainless steel bollards set deep into concrete to prevent further ram raids upon this most vulnerable area of the property.

Results

Ozy Services successfully;

  • provided an immediate call to action and men on-site
  • worked with local Police and third party Security to ensure the site was securely hoarded, locked up and patrolled with stationary security guards, while appropriate materials were sourced
  • Ozy builders rebuilt the external structural block wall, window framing and ceiling as well as built the internal dry walls and ceiling works with specialist glaziers replacing the custom shopfront glass panes
  • finally, Ozy installed 46 stainless steel bollards to deter further ram raid opportunities.

Asphalting – HN Taree Harvey Norman Property is the landlord of the Bendigo Homemaker Centre in regional Victoria. Over time, heavy rains caused erosion and partial collapse of the earthen bank along three sides of its property border, creating a potential erosion hazard as well as the obvious WHS issue to the roadway, assets and people below.
Last Mile Harvey Norman CEO, Katie Page, rolled out ‘The Last Mile’, an initiative that sees franchisees invest heavily into their physical assets of warehousing and logistics to enhance the Last Mile delivery experience for their customers. Ozy Services was briefed by Harvey Norman Property to assist the wrap up of this national initiative by completing programmed works at outer regional stores across Victoria, ACT and NSW. Works included visual upgrades to Harvey Norman branding and directional signage, pressure washing and line marking to car parks and warehouses, WHS improvements and some minor capital works across the building fabric of some locations.
